Florida Bankruptcy Services is a Chapter 7 bankruptcy preparation service.  We are located in Gulfport, Florida (next to Saint Petersburg) and have been in business for 15+ years.

Our fees are set by the bankruptcy court - $200.00.

We come highly recommended by our clients, trustees, local attorneys, and our local legal aid office. Why?  All the chapter 7 and chapter 13 bankruptcies we prepare are straight up by the book and you wouldn't want it any other way.

If you live in the Tampa Bay area (Pinellas, Hillsborough, Pasco, Polk, Manatee, or Hernando county) it would be our pleasure to help you get you out of debt.

Chapter 7 vs. 13   Are you guilty of committing at least one of the following top 10 bankruptcy mistakes?   If so, you're in good company because most people have committed at least one big credit related mistake in their lives - even if they are not aware of it or refuse to admit it.

Top 10 Mistakes
Filing Fee Waiver
Bankruptcy Glossary   1.  Denial.  Waiting too long to file Chapter 7 bankruptcy will only make things worse and can give creditors the time they need to to sue you, get a judgment against you, and then garnish your wages or bank account.

Frequently Asked Questions

Should I File   2.  Giving creditors or collection agencies access to your bank account, debit card, or credit card.  This often results in bank overdrafts and unauthorized charges.
Credit Reports
What Can I Keep
Can One Spouse File   3.  Getting a second mortgage to pay off unsecured debt (credit cards, medical bills, etc.) or satisfy something on your "wish list" such as a new kitchen or bathroom.  Why finance debt & there's no reason you can't complete a project one step at a time as you can afford it.
Taxes & Student Loans
Bankruptcy Myths

Debt Collection

  4.  Using your 401k or IRA to pay off debt.  This is the same as financing debt which makes no sense & these assets are protected in the bankruptcy court so why squander them.
Fair Debt Collections Practices Act
Telephone Consumer Protection Act
Fair Credit Reporting Act

5.  Settling credit card accounts.  Most of the settlement offers from credit card companies, debt management agencies, and debt collectors do not tell debtors that they will most likely receive a 1099 at the end of the year for the difference between what they owed & what the creditor accepted as "payment in full."    This often results in debtors owing the IRS because the monies "forgiven" are considered untaxed income.

7.  Failure to list all assets or transfer assets to others (especially vehicles or real property).   This is a big mistake people make out of fear of  losing their property.  Don't do it as transfers do not go unnoticed by the court.

Our Hours
Monday thru Friday
9:00 am thru 5:00 pm

8.  Failure to list all creditors, debt purchasers, and collection agencies.  The court cannot discharge debts that are not properly listed in your bankruptcy.

Note:  our hours are flexible.

9.  Using credit cards within 90 days of filing bankruptcy for luxury purchases, cash advances, or balance transfers over $500.00.

10.  Not getting your free credit report.  Your debts may have been sold or transferred to several collection agencies without your knowledge.

Our #1 rule is always pay cash & take advantage of sales (especially for high dollar items such as major kitchen appliances, laptop computers, furniture, and televisions).

Our #2 rule is to pay off your mortgage early!  If you pay an extra principle payment each month by separate check it wipes out 3 interest payments.  After 10 years your home will most likely be paid in full and you will save many thousands of dollars in interest!
